here’s some seriously shocking and saddening data from the pentagon.
the mental-health advisory team questioned 1,767 american troops and found the following:
- 36 percent said torture should be allowed in order to extract important information
- Only 47 percent felt that non-combatants should be treated with dignity and respect
- Nearly one-third said their unit officers had not emphasized that mistreatment was unacceptable
- Around 50 percent said they would be willing to report a fellow unit member for injuring or killing a noncombatant
